Benefits and Services Offered
Memories in the Makin’ is a 501C3 nonprofit organization offering equine therapy for people with disabilities and special needs, as well as veterans. We operate out of Sugar Run Stables in Avella PA. Services offered include horseback riding and horsemanship lessons where riders will connect with the horse through groundwork. We believe the most important part of equine therapy is the connection between the horse and person. Through our program, each individual will learn horsemanship skills such as feeding, watering, grooming, cleaning the stalls, and leading. This will help each individual learn their horse’s routine and build a lasting connection.

Donations play a crucial role in keeping Memories in the Makin’ functioning, and allow us to continue providing equine-assisted activities and therapy to children, individuals with disabilities, special needs, and military veterans. While equine therapy can be incredibly beneficial, it is increasingly expensive to provide. Horse-Riding Lessons offered through Sugar Run Stables alone are not enough to cover expenses. Memories in the Makin’ is a nonprofit 501c3 organization, which ensures 100% of your donations go directly back into our program.
Your donations help cover the costs of horse care, facility maintenance, and specialized equipment needed for the therapy sessions. By making a donation, you are helping to ensure individuals have access to the benefits of equine-assisted therapies and activities, such as increased confidence, improved communication, and enhanced social skills. In 2022, your donations helped Memories in the Makin’ with providing adaptive riding, also known as equine therapy, to 20+ individuals.
